Cobleskill, NY: The Fighting Tigers esports team entered the highly competitive SUNY Playoffs last week. The Tigers headed into the postseason with an overall 21-18 record.

This fall the Tigers are fielding teams in Rocket League, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, FIFA 23 and League of Legends. They will be competing in the competitive SUNY esports League, ECAC esports League and College League of Legends tournament.

The Rocket League team of Ryan Hoag (Troy, NY), Justin Besosa (Northport, NY) and Justin Caruso (Coxsackie-Athens, NY) came out ready to play and defeated Suffolk County Community College 3-0 in the first round of the SUNY Playoffs. The trio is now 3-2 on the season.

There are 32 teams in the Rocket League playoffs and the Tigers entered the postseason as the 14th seed.

Thanks to a great regular season the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War team received a first ro und bye. The team of Nazaire Odom (Queens, NY), Trelee Edmund (Bronx, NY), Dominic Ciano (Walden, NY) and Rahnell Lambright (Harlem, NY), Ajani Simpson (Springfield Gardens, NY) and Darius Swift (Middletown, NY) will match up with Plattsburgh State in the second round on November 17th at 8:00 pm. 

There are 11 teams in the SUNY Playoffs and Call of Duty finished the regular season as the 4th seed.

The Tigers Super Smash Bros. Ultimate teams of James Cerny (New Paltz, NY) and Matthew Nikolaus (Middleburgh, NY) entered the first round of the SUNY Playoffs.  Cerny came into the postseason as the 48th seed and Nikolaus as the 36th seed.  Only the top 60 teams made the SUNY playoffs this season.

Cerny fell to the #14 seed Suffolk County Community College 3-2.  Cerny almost completed the upset but fell in the final round.  Nikolaus season also came to an end as he fell 3-0 to SUNY Poly.

Both of the Tigers FIFA23 teams of Derek Streeter (Ilion, NY) and Saro Karageozian (Colonie, NY) went 2-0 last week.  Streeter swept Lycoming College, 2-0 in a best of five series.  Karageozian defeated Canisius Cllege 2-0 to pick up his fourth victory on the season.  Both players are 4-2 in the ECAC League.
