Oneonta, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team returned to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Sunday the Mariners of the Maine Maritime Academy by a 23-7 margin in a game played on the turf at SUNY Oneonta's College Track & Field. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 1-3 overall including a 1-2 record in NAC action while the Mariners are now 3-4 overall with a 2-1 record in conference action.
The visitors jumped out to an 8-2 first period lead out shooting the Fighting Tigers on the afternoon 74-23 on the afternoon while winning the battle of the face-off circle by a 23-11 margin. The Mariners also forced 31 Cobleskill turnovers and held a 49-24 advantage in ground balls on the day.
On the offensive end of the field junior attackman/midfielder
Giovanni Bevacqua, Newton, N.J., Newton High School, turned in a two goal, two assist effort on the day while sophomore midfielder
Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, and sophomore attackman
Gregory Neumann, Accord, N.Y., Rondout Valley High School, each scored a pair of goals.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday March 30 when they host the Highlanders of Carin University tentatively at the Soccer/Lax Complex with face-off at 4:00 p.m.
