Purchase, N.Y.: After several cancelations due to inclement weather or field conditions, the SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team took to the road to open the season on Saturday afternoon dropping a 15-2 decision to the host Panther of SUNY Purchase in non-conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the campaign with a 0-1 overall record while the Panthers open the season at 1-0.
The host Panthers exploded for nine goals in the second quarter to effectively decide the issue as the home team enjoyed a 58-25 advantage in shots while forcing the visitors into 26 turnovers on the day.
The Fighting Tiger goals were scored by junior midfielder
Ian Gaddy, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Saratoga Springs High School, and sophomore
Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, while first year midfielder
Albert Sippio, Syracuse, N.Y., Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central High School, had an assist.Â
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday March 12 when they host the Highlanders of Cairn University in a game to be played at SUNY Oneonta beginning at 1:00 p.m.
