Fighting Tiger Softball Sweeps Delhi Broncos 8-0 & 11-4 to Extend Winning Streak to Seven Games

First Place Fighting Tigers Down Delhi in NAC Softball Action

Delhi, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team closed out their extended road trip on Monday afternoon sweeping a pair of games from North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival SUNY Delhi by scores of 8-0 and 11-4. With the victories the Fighting Tigers are now 11-13 overall including an 8-1 record in NAC action while the Broncos move to 6-15 overall with a 3-5 record versus league opponents. The sweep also solidifies the team's hold on first place in the NAC Western Division.

In the first game the Fighting Tiger bats remained as hot as the Fourth of July as the Orange & Black ripped Bronco pitching for eight runs on 12 hits of which five were of the extra base variety.

Senior shortstop Maya Davies, Binghamton, N.Y., Chenango Valley High School/Onondaga Community College, continued her hot streak going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBI while sophomore designated player Emily Lutz, Ellenville, N.Y., Ellenville Valley High School, went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI. Senior second baseman Aubrie Marx, Rotterdam, N.Y., Mohanasen High School, was also a factor in the win going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

With ample offensive support senior hurler Victoria Decker, Stone Ridge, N.Y, Rondout Valley High School, posted the shutout victory allowing five hits while striking out five and not allowing a walk to improve to 5-8 overall on the season.
In the finale the Fighting Tigers once again flexed serious offensive muscle pounding out 15 hits, five for extra bases, to claim the victory.

Catcher Emily Lutz continued her strong day at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI while first year pitcher Olivia DeMott, Sidney, N.Y., Sidney High School, helped her own cause by going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. First baseman Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, belted a three-run homer as part of a 1-for-4 effort in the victory.

DeMott was equally effective on the mound going the full seven innings striking out four and walking two to even her record at 1-1 on the year.

Cobleskill will next be in action over the weekend when they host the Wildcats of Cazenovia College for a pair of NAC doubleheaders starting on Friday April 29 at 3:30 p.m. and concluding on Saturday April 30 starting at 12:00 p.m.
