SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap For The Week of September 11, 2022


The SUNY Cobleskill men's cross country team won their second consecutive invitational of the season on Saturday posting a team score of 17 points to win their own 2022 Steve A. Warde Invitational. The Fighting Tigers were led by sophomore Eamonn Sullivan, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Fordham Preparatory School, who won the individual title defeating the 85-runner field by covering the 8000-meter loop in a time of 26:41.73.

The Fighting Tiger men's soccer team lost on the road in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Wednesday to the Brewers of Vassar College 5-0 prior to returning home over the weekend to post a 1-1 tie with the Pioneers of Alfred State College on Saturday prior to dropping a 3-0 decision to the visiting Pioneers of Utica University on Sunday. Cobleskill junior midfielder Cater Ciavardoni, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, scored the team's goal versus Alfred State on Saturday as the Orange & Black move to 0-4-1 on the season.

The women's cross country team posted a score of 77 points to place fourth overall at their own 2022 Steven A. Warde Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Jenna Swyers, Peru, N.Y., Peru High School, was the Fighting Tigers top finisher placing sixth overall in the 48-runner field by completing the 6000-meter course in a time of 27:39.57.

The women's soccer team was defeated at home on Saturday by the Panthers of Purchase College by a 7-1 score to fall to 1-2 overall on the season. First-year midfielder Shealinn Stevens, Otego, N.Y., Otego High School, tallied by the Fighting Tigers versus the Panthers on Saturday.

The Fighting Tigers women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday at a triangular meet hosted by Mitchell College Mariners in New London, Conn. losing to the Rams of Suffolk University 3-0 by set scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-15 and to the host Mariners 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 26-24 to fall to 1-5 overall on the year. Junior middle hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.Y., Nashua North High School, averaged 3.67 kills per set in six sets played at the event for the Orange & Black.
