SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap for the Week of Oct 1, 2023


 
The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team celebrated homecoming by posting a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the visiting Badgers of Vermont State University-Johnson in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action 2-1 on Saturday at the Soccer/Lax Complex to improve to 2-5-1 overall including a 1-2 record in conference play. Fighting Tiger senior forward Derek Streeter, Ilion, N.Y., Central Valley Academy, scored the game winning goal, his second goal of the season, in the 80th minute to secure the victory.
 
The Fighting Tiger women's volleyball team split a pair of non-league home games on Saturday at the Iorio Gymnasium to improve to 4-9 overall on the campaign. Cobleskill opened the day by falling 3-2 to The Express of Wells College by set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 25-15 and 15-9 prior to defeating the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22. Senior middle hitter/outside hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, led the way for the Orange & Black averaging 4.0 kills, 1.2 blocks, 0.88 digs and 0.62 service aces in eight sets played in on the day.
 
The men's golf team posted a team score of 62-over par 342 to place fourth in a seven-team field on Monday at the 2023 SUNY Poly Invitational hosted by the SUNY Polytechnic Institute at the par 70, 6516-yard Teugega Country Club in Rome, N.Y. The Fighting Tigers were led by first-year Taylor Brock, Candor, N.Y., Candor High School, who fired a round of five-over par 75 to place to tie for second place overall in the 42-player field.
 
The women's golf team posted a team score of 131-over par 415 to place second in a three-team field at the 2023 SUNY Poly Invitational hosted by the SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Monday at the par 71, 5535-yard Teugega Country Club in Rome, N.Y. The Fighting Tigers were led by first-year Isabella Keilbach, Great Neck, N.Y., Great Neck High School, who placed fourth overall in the field of 13 players by posting a round of 27-over par 98.
 
The Fighting Tiger women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the visiting Badgers of Vermont State University-Johnson in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday to fall to 0-7-1 overall on the season including a 0-3 record in league action.  First-year forward Jojo Leubner, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, scored the team's goal versus the Badgers.
