Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team headed into the Thanksgiving holiday on a high note Monday evening downing the visiting Trailblazers of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) by a 78-33 margin in non-league action at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the win the Fighting Tigers improve to 4-0 overall on the season while MCLA falls to 1-4.
The Fighting Tigers dominated the action from the opening tip racing out to a 24-5 first quarter lead from which they never looked back on their way to a 41-9 advantage at the half. Cobleskill was impressive defensively throughout the contest holding the Trailblazers to only 10-for-42 from the field, 23.8%, while forcing MCLA to 27 turnovers on the evening including seven shot clock violations.
The Cobleskill offense was led by sophomore center/forward
Emily Satterday, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, who posted a double/double with a team high of 13 point and 10 rebounds while junior guard
Antonia May, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, had a season high of 10 points on the evening.
The home squad displayed great offensive depth on the night as 15 different Fighting Tigers found the scoring column with junior guard
Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass., Hoosac Valley High School, hitting for eight points, senior center
Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, scoring seven points and senior forward
Hannah Cater, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, adding six points to go with three rebounds and a blocked shot in a reserve role.
The Fighting Tigers also received strong play from junior forward
Cara Walker, Phelps, N.Y., Midlakes High School, with five points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals and from sophomore forward
Sierra Goodson, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, with six points off the bench.
The Orange & Black will return to on Monday November 27 when they travel to Troy, N.Y. to face the Gators of Sage College with tip-off at 5:00 p.m.
