Waterville, Maine: The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced today the SUNY Cobleskill junior guard
Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, has been named to the league's 2022-23 All-NAC Third Team by the league's men's basketball coaches. He becomes the first player in program history to earn All-NAC Team honors.
In his first year with the Fighting Tigers the talented junior point guard was named the league's NAC Player-of-the-Week and NAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week during the regular season. The Rochester, N.Y. native led Cobleskill to one of the best turnaround seasons in nation the NCAA Division III level as the team finished 18-9 overall, including an 8-6 record versus league opponents, on the year after a 2021-22 season that saw them post a 3-20 overall mark.
According to Fighting Tiger second-year head coach
Justin Maxwell, Starks had a major impact on the program this season and was the catalyst to the team's successful campaign.
"Andre was the catalyst of our program this year, he had some of his biggest games in league contests," said Maxwell. "He played with more energy and hustle this season than anyone that I have ever coached."
During the season the Rochester, N.Y. native averaged a team leading 14.6 points, 3.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game in 27 starts this season while connecting on 134-of-353 shots from the field, 38.0%, including 41-of-124, 33.1%, from their point range while shooting 77.8% from the free throw line hitting on 84-of-108 attempts.
