SUNY Cobleskill Men's Lacrosse Downs Eastern Nazarene University 23-7 on Saturday

Fighting Tiger Lax Posts 23-7 Road Win at Eastern Nazarene University


Quincy, Mass.: After a pair of cancelations the SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team took to the road on Saturday to maul the host Lions of Eastern Nazarene University by a 23-7 margin in non-league action. With the win the Fighting Tigers move to 2-0 on the season while the Lions fall to 0-3 overall.

The Fighting Tigers came out firing jumping to a 7-1 first quarter lead followed by a second quarter that saw them score eight times to take a 15-5 lead into the locker room at half time from which they never looked back.

On the afternoon Cobleskill dominated the action on the turf outshooting their hosts 72-to-31 while winning the groundball battle by a 45-to-32 margin. Cobleskill also forced 17 over the Lions 29 turnovers on the afternoon.

The Fighting Tiger offense was spearheaded by the quartet of sophomore midfielder Albert Sippio, Syracuse, N.Y, Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central, who scored four goals and passed out two assists, senior midfielder Jake Giess, Victor, N.Y., Victor High School/Finger Lakes Community College, who scored four goals and passed out two assists, junior attackman Gregory Neumann, Accord, N.Y., Rondout Valley High School, who had four goals and one assist and senior attackman Kerry Blackwood, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School/Hudson Valley Community College, who tallied four times on the day.

Defensively sophomore goalie John Williams, Smyrna, Del., Smyrna High School, recorded 11 saves to go with six groundballs on the afternoon while junior midfielder Sean McMahan, Clifton Park, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, caused five turnovers and picked up five groundballs to go with a pair of goals and an assist.

The Orange & Black will return to action after the college's spring break on Saturday March 25 when they open the 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) season by hosting the Broncos of SUNY Delhi at the Soccer/Lax Complex with face-off scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
