Castine, Maine: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team closed out their weekend North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road trip to Maine on Sunday afternoon by dropping a 24-6 decision to the host Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy in league action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 4-2 overall including a 1-2 record in NAC play while the Mariners improve to 5-3 overall with a 3-0 record versus conference opponents.
The Mariners raced out to a 13-2 halftime advantage and never looked back as the home team dominated the face-off circle by a 21-to-11 margin while outshooting Cobleskill 67-to-32 on the day. Maritime also held the visitors to 0-for-13 in man-up opportunities.
The Fighting Tigers continued to receive strong offensive play from junior midfielder
Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School who scored three goals and senior midfielder
William Bockhaus, Southampton, N.Y, Southampton High School, who had a goal and an assist in the contest.
Cobleskill reserve goalkeeper junior
Sean McMahan, Clifton Park, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, recorded 22 saves in relief of sophomore
John Williams, Smyrna, Del., Smyrna High School, who is currently on the injured reserve list.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Saturday April 8 when they travel to Hackettstown, N.J. to the Cyclones of Centenary University in non-conference action beginning at 1:00 p.m.
