SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap For The Week of April 2, 2023


The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team won two-of-three road contests during the week traveling to Buffalo, N.Y. to defeat the Mavericks of Medaille College by a 7-4 margin in non-conference action before traveling to Bangor, Maine on Friday evening to post a last second 14-13 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over the host Eagles of Husson University then closing week by dropping a 24-6 NAC road decision to the Mariners of the Maine Maritime Academy to move to 4-2 overall on the year including a 1-2 record in league action. Fighting Tiger junior midfielder Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, scored twice in the final 20 seconds of play to give Cobleskill the win over Husson University.

Junior high jumper Leila Ward, Arlington, Vt., Arlington High School, was the Fighting Tiger women's outdoor track & field team's top performer at the 2023 Hamilton College Continental Invitational hosted by Hamilton College on Saturday in Clinton, N.Y. Ward won the event by clearing a height of 4'11".
The Fighting Tiger baseball team lost an 11-6 non-conference road decision to the Pioneers of William Patterson University on Friday in Wayne, N.J. to fall to 4-9 overall on the year. Sophomore first baseman Chris Champlin, Jefferson, N.Y., South Kortright High School, was the team's top performer during the week going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and four RBI.

Junior distance runner Nick Logan, Queensbury, N.Y., Queensbury High School, was the Fighting Tiger men's outdoor track & field team's top performer at the 2023 Hamilton College Continental Invitational hosted by Hamilton College on Saturday in Clinton, N.Y. Logan placed third overall in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:54.20 at the event.

The women's softball dropped a pair of non-conference road doubleheaders losing to Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. on Wednesday by scores of 17-0 and 11-3 then losing to SUNY Oneonta, N.Y. on Saturday by scores of 11-1 and 5-4 to fall to 2-10 overall. The Fighting Tigers were led by sophomore catcher Mackenzie Wendelken, Stuyvesant, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, who batted .556 for the week with a double and two RBI during the week.
