Cobleskill Esports Open Up Their 2023 Fall Season

Cobleskill, NY:  The Cobleskill Esports team opened up their 2023 Fall season last Thursday night in the Fighting Tiger Esports Arena. 

This fall the Tigers are fielding teams in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (two teams), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (4 teams), EA FC 24 (four teams) and Overwatch 2. They will be competing in the competitive SUNY Esports League and ECAC Esports League.
 
The Call of Duty team of Treelee Edmund (Bronx, NY), Nazaire Odom (Queens, NY), Ajani Simpson (Springfield Gardens, NY) and Rennie Stockton dominated Suffolk County Community College 3-0.  The Tigers got it started with a 250-38 win in hardpoint, then followed that up with a 6-1 win in search and destroy.  Cobleskill closed it out with a 3-0 win in control. The Fighting Tigers showed great teamwork and map control throughout the entire game to earn the clean sweep.
 
Call of Duty is now 1-0 on the season in the SUNY League.  Their next matchup is against the defeating champions Farmingdale State on Thursday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m.
 
Call of Duty will also compete in the ECAC League, their first match is Friday, September 29 at 8:00 p.m. against Mars Hill University.
 
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has four teams competing in the SUNY League.  This season, the SUNY League plays five matches every Thursday night.  Matthew Nikolaus (Middleburgh, NY) will be the SSB Team A this season and went 4-1 in the first week defeating Suffolk County Community College, SUNY Orange (twice) and Morrisville State. Christopher Outman will be SSB Team B for the Tigers and finished 2-3 on the night, picking up wins against SUNY Adirondack and Cobleskill Team C.
 
Chad Edwards made his esports debut for the Tigers and finished 1-3 with his only win coming against SUNY Fredonia.  Freshman Riley Mercera picked up two wins in his debut night against SUNY Fredonia and Purchase College.
 
Super Smash Bros. is currently 9-10 overall on the season.  They will be in action this Thursday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m.
