Fighting Tigers' Logan Thayne Named 2024 NAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Year

Waterville, N.Y.: The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill senior center Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, has been named the 2024 NAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Year by the league's coaches. During the season Thayne helped lead the Fighting Tigers to their first NAC Western Division Championship setting the best single season record in program history at 25-1 including a perfect 12-0 versus league opponents.

According to Fighting Tiger Head Coach Megan Bowman spoke highly of her senior centers play and the impact she has had on the team's success this year.

"Logan receiving Player of the Year is a credit to all of the hard work and perseverance she has demonstrated since they very first day she stepped onto campus. She is a professional in every sense of the word and does so much more for our team than any box score could ever portray. On the hardwood she has been nearly unstoppable and is the heart of our Cobleskill defense leading our conference in blocked shots while boasting national statistics as well. She gives us the unique ability to play a successful five-out offense but at the same time the size to attack inside when needed most. So much of our success can be credited to the things that Logan continues to do for our team on and off the hardwood, we know we go as she goes."

During the season the 6'3" center from Hoosick Falls, N.Y. posted16 double/doubles in points and rebounds during the campaign while averaging 16.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.2 blocked shots while shooting 54.9% from the field including 31.7% from three-point range and 79.2% from the free throw line. Thayne was also named NAC Play-of-the-Week twice and the NAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week once during the year.

Thayne led the conference in blocked shots while finishing second in field goal percentage, fourth in scoring average and fifth rebounds per game. She also made appearances in the Division III Individual National Statistical Categories ranking 12th in double/doubles, 30th in field goal percentage and 34th in blocked shots per game.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday February 24 when they travel to Castine, Maine for the NAC Championship Game to be hosted by the league's Eastern Division Champion Mariners of the Maine Maritime Academy with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
