SUNY Cobleskill Women's Basketball Extends Winning Steak to 12 Games With 70-49 Road Win Over SUNY Morrisville

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team made their final regular season road trip of the year on Tuesday evening downing the host Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville 70-48 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action to extend their current winning streak to 12 games. With the victory the Fighting Tigers move to 22-1 overall with an 11-0 mark in NAC play while the Mustangs drop to 8-16 overall with a 6-6 record in league action.
 
The Fighting Tigers jumped out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back once again using a strong defensive effort throughout the contest holding the home team to only 16-of-58, 27.6%, including only 5-of-29, 17.2 %, from three-point range. Cobleskill also held a 54-to-29 advantage on the backboards on the evening.
 
The tandem of junior forward Antonia May, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, and senior center Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, led the Cobleskill attack as May scored a team high of 17 points to go with six rebounds and two blocked shots while Thayne posted a double/double with 13 points, 17 rebounds along with a pair of blocked shots. Junior guard Taylor Meacham, Berne, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, hit for 11 points and took down five rebounds in the win.
 
The Fighting Tigers also received strong efforts off the bench from sophomore guard Talia Washington, Schenectady, N.Y., Schenectady High School, with five points and four assists and from junior guard Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass, Hoosac Valley High School, who scored five points and grabbed two rebounds in a reserve role.
 
Cobleskill will conclude the regular season on Saturday February 10 when they host the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College for a NAC contest with tip-off at 3:00 p.m. The game will also be "Senior Day" for the Fighting Tiger graduating class of 2024.
