SUNY Cobleskill Softball Opens 2024 Campaign with 7-5 Loss to Hastings College

Fighting Tigers Open 2024 Space Coast Games with 7-5 Loss to Hastings College


 
Melbourne, Fla.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team opened their 2024 season on Monday afternoon by dropping a 7-5 decision to the Broncos of Hastings College at the Space Coast Games. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the year at 0-1 overall while the Broncos improve to 7-10 overall.
 
The Broncos jumped out to an early 5-1 lead after two innings and then held on for the victory as the Fighting Tigers rallied to trail 7-5 after five innings but could come no closer a key seventh inning double play ended a Cobleskill comeback effort.
 
Fighting Tiger first-year starting pitcher Madelynn Orosz, Seymour, Ct., Nonnewaug High School, took the loss allowing seven earned runs on 14 hits striking out two while walking one.
 
At the plate junior catcher Mackenzie Wendelken, Stuyvesant, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, led the offense going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a run scored while junior centerfielder Alexia Clemons, Beaver Falls, N.Y., Beaver River High School, went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
