Delhi, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team opened their 2024 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) season on Monday evening by dropping a 18-3 decision to the host Broncos of SUNY Delhi. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 1-3 overall including a 0-1 record in league action while the Broncos improve to 8-1 with a 1-0 record versus league opponents.
The Fighting Tigers and Broncos battled throughout the first half as Cobleskill first-year midfielder
Alex Baker, Guilford, Vt., Brattleboro High School, scored twice as the visitors trailed 5-2 at the break.
However, the second half was all Delhi as the Broncos scored eight unanswered goals in the third quarter and five in fourth quarter to secure the victory as the home team dominated the face-off circle by a 19-to-5 margin while holding a 57-to-16 advantage in shots on the evening.
Alex Baker was the Fighting Tigers lone offensive threat in the contest with all three of the team's goals.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday March 27 when they travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for a non-league meeting with the Hawks of Hilbert College in a game to be played at the Nichols School's Truscott Field with face-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
