Men's Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Hamilton Invitational

Foote wins the 400 meters while Logan hits 1500 meter AARTFC Standard

Clinton, NY:  The SUNY Cobleskill Men's Track and Field kicked off their outdoor season at the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational on Saturday morning. 
 
Senior Nick Logan (Queensbury, NY) opened his outdoor season by hitting the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference standard in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:59.41 for a second-place finish.  The senior out kicked runners from Colgate, SUNY Oneonta and Hamilton in the final 100 meters of the race to claim second place.
 
Charles Foote (Cobleskill, NY/ Cobleskill-Richmondville) had a strong day for the Fighting Tigers, as he finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 49.92 holding off two RPI runners in the final moments of the race.
 
In the 110-meter hurdles, Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY) was Cobleskill's top finisher as placed sixth with a time of 16.68.
 
In the jumping department it was freshman Thomas Herberger (Avon, NY) and his teammate Gregory McDonald (Wells, ME) representing the Fighting Tigers in the long jump.  Herberger finished 24th with a jump of 5.71 meters (18-8 ¾) and McDonald 30th with a leap of 5.51 meters (18-1).
 
McDonald also competed in the 100-meter dash turning in a time of 11.82 seconds for 37th place while teammate Jeffery Alvarado (Amsterdam, NY) was their top finisher as he placed 33rd with a time of 11.72 seconds.
 
Sophomore Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY/ Elmira) finished 17th in the hammer throw with a toss of 34.62 meters (113-7) and 18th in the discus with a distance of 31.48 meters (103-3). Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY/ Cobleskill-Richmondville) led the Fighting Tigers in the discus with a 15th place finish thanks to his second throw of 31.79 meters (104-3).
 
Freshman Riley Mercera (Rye Brook, NY) opened his outdoor collegiate career with a 16th place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 29.46 meters (96-8)

The Fighting Tigers return to action on April 6th and 7th as they travel to SUNY Cortland for the Cortland Red Dragon Open Invitational.
