Oneonta, N.Y.: With the upstate New York spring weather playing havoc on intercollegiate sports schedules, the SUNY Cobleskill softball team took to the road on Friday afternoon to post a 2-0 shutout victory over the Broncos of SUNY Delhi in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action in a game rescheduled from Saturday afternoon and played on the turf at All-Star Village. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 7-8 overall on the year including a 3-0 record in NAC play while the Broncos drop to 3-15 overall with a 0-4 record versus league opponents.
The Fighting Tigers scored all the runs they needed in the first inning when first-year designated player
Gianna Guido, Clifton Park, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, clubbed a one out bases loaded double scoring first-year second baseman
Kylie Rattigan, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Arlington High School, and senior first baseman
Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, who each had singled.
Staked to a 2-0 lead first-year right hander Madelynn Orosz, Seymour, Conn., Nonnewaug High School, turned in an outstanding effort in the circle limiting the Broncos to only four hits while striking out one batter and walking no one.
Offensively the Fighting Tigers were led by
Alexis Miranda who went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored while
Gianna Guido who went 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and a pair of RBI.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Sunday April 14 when they return to All-Star Village in Oneonta, N.Y. for a NAC doubleheader with the Broncos of SUNY Delhi beginning at 10:00 a.m.
