Track and Field Post Multiple Winners at Cortland and Competes at Bucknell

The Fighting Tigers win three events at the Cortland Upstate Alternative and Aiello Breaks School Record at Bucknell

 
Cortland, NY & Lewisburg, PA: The SUNY Cobleskill women's track and field team split up this weekend as most of the team traveled to SUNY Cortland on Saturday for their Cortland Upstate Alternative while first year Julia Aiello (Carmel, NY) competed in the highly competitive Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday.

In some challenging weather conditions, the Fighting Tigers posted several impressive results and performances throughout the team including three event winners.  First year Lilianna Peters (Hinsdale, NY) was one of Cobleskill's top performers as she won the 5000 meters with a time of 19:41.99 beating out 10 other runners.

In the jumping department, the Fighting Tigers really shined with two first place finishes in Lilly Swyers (Peru, NY) and Lilah Ward (Arlington, VT).  Swyers continues her strong outdoor season as she won the triple jump with a distance of 10.09 (33-1 ¼).  Third year jumper Lilah Ward beat out two SUNY Cortland and SUNY Delhi jumpers to claim the high jump crown with a height of 1.50 meters (4-11).  Ward also placed fourth overall in the long jump, but first among division III athletes, with a leap of 4.64 meters (15-2 ¾).  Her teammate Bethanie Becker (Millers Place, NY) placed 11th in the event with a mark of 4.28 meters (14-0 ½).
 
In the 100 meter hurdles, Lilly Swyers led the way with a fifth place finish crossing the line at 17.93 seconds.  Her teammates Becker and Hayleigh Girard (Hudson Falls, NY) placed seventh and eighth with Becker running an 18.42 and Girard an 18.47.  
 
In the 1500 meters, Alyssa Freeguard (Argyle, NY) led the Fighting Tigers with a time of 5:42.92 for an eighth place finish.  Teammate Chloe Davis () finished in 17th with a time of 5:59.02.  Second year thrower Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) was Cobleskill top thrower as she placed 18th in the hammer throw with a distance of 27.29 meters (89-6).
 
 
Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic
 
Julia Aiello (Carmel, NY) was the Fighting Tigers lone participant in the competitive Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday.  The first year speedster finished in 67th place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.86 seconds as she faced challenging weather elements. With that time, she breaks her own school record.

The Fighting Tigers return to action on April 19th and 20th as they travel back to SUNY Cortland for the Cortland Classic.
