Fighting Tigers Shine at Bucknell and Cortland

Nick Logan finished fourth at Bucknell in the 1500 meters

Cortland, NY & Lewisburg, PA: The Cobleskill Fighting Tiger men's track and field teams were out in full force at two separate invitationals this weekend.  The majority of the team traveled to SUNY Cortland on Saturday for their Cortland Upstate Alternative while a smaller group competed in the highly competitive Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

In some windy and rainy conditions, second year Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY) was the Fighting Tigers top finisher with a seventh place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.70 meters (5-7).  Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY) turned in a solid performance with a pair of 10th place finishes in his two throwing events.  In the hammer throw, Marks hit a distance of 39.63 meters (130-0) on his third throw, and he followed that up with a 32.81 meter throw (107-7) in the discus.
 
In the 100 meter dash, Gregory McDonald (Wells, ME) was Cobleskill's top finisher with a time of 12.43 seconds for a 13th place finish just barely edging out fellow sprinter Jeffery Alvarado (Amsterdam, NY) who placed 19th with a time of 12.64 seconds.  In the distance events, it was sophomore Nik Recore (Peru, NY) leading the Tigers as he placed 18th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:44.81.  Daniel Jaffin (Woodbury, Conn) and Jacob Rhinesmith (Sommerset, NJ) finished 25th and 28th in the event as well.
 
The 4x100 relay team of McDonald, Alvardo, Cusmano and freshman Dylan Cowell (Kinderhook, NY) placed fifth with a time of 48.07 seconds.
 
 
Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic
 
The Fighting Tigers sent three members to the highly competitive Bison Outdoor Class at Bucknell University at their Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.  Nick Logan (Queensbury, NY) was Cobleskill's top performer as he finished fourth out of 91 runners in the 1500 meters.  The talented senior crossed the line at 3:58.76 in some tricky and difficult weather conditions.
 
In the jumps, it was first year standout Thomas Herberger (Avon, NY) that led the Tigers.  He finished 36th with a jump of 12.61 meters (41-4 ½).  On Sunday, Charles Foote (Cobleskill, NY) placed 58th in the 400 meters with a time of 50.24 seconds.

The Fighting Tigers return to action on April 19th and 20th as they travel back to SUNY Cortland for the Cortland Classic.
