Oneonta, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill Men's Lacrosse team closed out their weekend North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekend on Sunday by dropping a 25-11 decision to the Mariners of the Maine Maritime Academy in league play in a game played on the turf at Oneonta High School. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 1-9 overall including a 0-6 record versus NAC opponents while the Mariners improve to 8-4 overall with a record of 5-1 in conference.
The Mariners dominated the action from the opening face-off scoring the first four goas of the contest and never looking back as the visitors dominated the face-off circle by a 36-to-5 margin while holding advantages in shots 67-to-33 and groundballs by a 62-to-26 margin.
The Fighting Tigers did receive strong outings from senior attackman
Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, who scored seven goals on the day and from first-year midfielder
Robert Staubitz, East Rockaway, N.Y., East Rockaway High School, who had two goals, four assists and 10 ground balls on the afternoon.
Cobleskill will close out the home portion of their 2024 season on Wednesday April 24 when they are scheduled to host the Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville at the Soccer/Lax Complex with face-off at 4:00 p.m.
TIGER NOTES: With his seven-goal effort Fighting Tiger senior attackman Sean D'Amaro has now scored a program record 104 goals in his SUNY Cobleskill career to go with a career program record of 134 points scored.
