Cobleskill, NY: The Cobleskill men's lacrosse team fell short against league leaders SUNY Morrisville 24-3 on Wednesday afternoon at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
On a difficult night for Cobleskill, first year
Alex Baker (Guilford, VT/Brattleboro Union) led the Fighting Tigers with a goal and three ground balls. Trevor Masocco (Eden, NY) added a goal while going 4-8 in face offs. Rhylee Kierst (Waterloo, NY) found the back of net as well.
Despite to result, goalie
James Meier (Guilderland, NY) had a steller night between the pipes recording 28 saves for the Fighting Tigers.
Tyler Jaffee (Plattekill, NY) picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers. Senior
Kevon Barrett (Bronx, NY/Lehman) caused one turnovers and scooped up two ground balls.
Cobleskill's defense seemed up to the challenge in the beginning of the game, holding Morrisville to only two goals in the first nine minutes of the game. The Fighting Tigers offense struggled against one of the best defensive sides in the NAC all game long. The visitors would extend their lead to 4-0 to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the mustangs offense proved too much for the hosts as they extended their lead to 8-0 before Masocco found the back of the net to give Cobleskill their first goal of the game at the 6:25 mark. Morrisville responded quickly scoring their tenth goal of the contest only 13 seconds later. They would push their lead and enter the half with a 13-1 lead.
The Fighting Tigers couldn't mount a comeback despite playing Morrisville close in the third period and entered the final quarter trailing 17-3. The visitors scored seven goals in the fourth quarter and closed out the game 24-3.
The Mustangs outshot the Fighting Tigers 75-22 (52-15 sog). The visitors picked up 44 ground balls compared to Cobleskill's 19 and the visitors also held a 20-10 advantage in the faceoffs.

th at 11:00 AM as they travel to Thomas College for a road NAC contest in Waterville, ME.
