Johnson, Vt.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team opened their weekend road trip to Vermont in impressive fashion taking a pair of games from the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival Vermont State University-Johnson (VTSUJ) by scores of 11-1 and 10-5. With the sweep the Fighting Tigers improve to 13-13 overall on the season to date including a 8-2 record in NAC play while the Badgers fall to 6-16 overall with a 2-11 conference record.
In the opener the Fighting Tigers pounded out 12 hits and capitalized on three Badger errors to score their 11 runs in the first three innings and cruise to the victory in five innings.
Leading the way for the visitors was first-year second baseman
Kylie Rattigan, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Arlington High School, who operating out of the lead-off spot went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and three runs scored while senior first baseman
Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, went 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple, two runs and pair of runs batted in.
Cobleskill also received strong efforts from junior catcher
Mackenzie Wendelken, Stuyvesant, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, who went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI and from first-year third baseman
Gianna Guido, Clifton Park, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, who went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Staked to a large lead, sophomore starter
Jaydaci Chamberlain, Northborough, Mass., Norfolk Country Agricultural High School, improved her won/loss 6-2 allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out three and walking only one.
In the second game Cobleskill led 8-5 heading into the top of the seventh when they put the contest out of reach with a pair of runs on a run scoring single by first baseman
Alexis Miranda and an RBI double off the bat of designated player

Emily Lutz, Ellenville, N.Y., Ellenville High School, was 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
On the mound, sophomore starter
Kimberly Olsen, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, was credited with the win allowing two earned runs while striking out one to improve to 2-3 overall on the year with relief help from first-year hurler
Madelynn Orosz, Seymour, Ct., Nonnewaug High School, who earned her first save by allowing two earned runs while striking out two batters.
The Fighting Tigers and Badgers will conclude their weekend series on Saturday, April 27, with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
