Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today the Fighting Tiger volleyball/softball standout senior
Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, has been named the recipient of the 2023-24 Senior Athlete Award. The award is presented annually to the graduating senior whose athletic career has been deemed the most exceptional of the graduating class.
A two-sport standout Miranda was a three-time All-North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Second Team selection in volleyball while being named NAC Player-of-the-Week three times during her career.
The Nashua, N.H. native led the Fighting Tigers to the NAC Volleyball play-offs three times during her career including to the NAC Western Division Championship in 2021.
Over the course of her career in 66 matches and 249 sets played the 6'2" outside hitter/middle hitter had 696 career kills averaging 2.80 kills per set, 213 digs for a 0.86 per set average and 145 total blocks for an average of 0.60 per set while scoring 830 career points for an average of 3.33 per set.
On the softball diamond Miranda was even more impressive earning All-NAC First Team honors three times along with being selected as NAC Player-of-the-Week three times over the course of her career. She also led Cobleskill to the NAC Western Division Championship in 2022 and to three trips to the NAC Championship Tournament.
In 110 games during her time in the program she batted .396 going 133-for-336 at the plate with 26 doubles, nine triples, 13 home runs leading to 82 runs scored and 95 runs batted in while defensively posting a .976 fielding percentage in 626 career chances at first base and in the outfield.
In 2022-23 she was named the Athletic Department's Fred Bennett Female Athlete-of-the-Year for her efforts on the volleyball court and the softball diamond.
Her impact and contributions to the success of the Fighting Tiger volleyball and softball programs was praised by both of her coaches.

"Alexis has been a pivotal part of the growth for the softball program. She has been a leader on and off the field. The foundation she has helped lay will affect the program for years to come."

Kate Isaksen also felt that Miranda's example to her teammates and success of the court will be felt by the program for years to come.
"Alexis has made her mark at SUNY Cobleskill both in the classroom and on the court. She is a role model for her teammates and has left her mark in the record books."
