Utica, NY: The Fighting Tigers women's indoor track and field team took a trip to Utica University for their Winter Opener on Friday evening. The Tigers produced several impress time and results across the board.
In the 60-meter hurdles, first-year standout
Anneliese Klein (Carslie, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) led the Tigers with a fifth-place finish in the preliminaries, clocking 9.97 seconds. Fellow freshman
Guerna Becker (Fairfield, MT) also performed well, finishing 13th in 10.70 seconds. Klein advanced to the finals, where she secured seventh place with a time of 10.31 seconds.
The distance squad put together a solid effort in the mile.
Alyssa Freeguard (Argyle, NY) led the Tigers with a 27th-place finish in 5:44.70, followed by
Gillian Miner (Saranac, NY) in 38th (6:09.33),
Gabrielle Waite (Pulaski, NY) in 42nd (6:16.53), and
Molly Repicky (Schoharie, NY) in 44th (6:28.54). Freeguard also led the Tigers in the 800 meters, placing 19th in 2:38.29, while Miner followed closely in 22nd with a time of 2:43.00.
In the long jump,
Anneliese Klein impressed with a fourth-place finish, leaping 4.93 meters (16-2 ¼).
The Tigers also excelled in the throwing events. Freshman
Adira-Virginia Greer-Padilla (Fallsburg,NY) shined in the weight throw, finishing second among Division III competitors with a personal best of 12.93 meters (42-5 ¼).
Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) placed 13th with a toss of 10.49 meters (34-5), while
Alyssa Abbott (Bliss, NY/Letchworth Central) took 17th with a mark of 9.37 meters (30-9). In the shot put, Gosselin led Cobleskill with a 15th-place finish at 8.70 meters (28-6 ½), followed by Greer-Padilla in 18th (8.41 meters/27-7 ¼) and Abbott in 19th (8.35 meters/27-4 ¾).
The Fighting Tigers will return to Utica University on Friday, February 7, to compete in the Blue and Orange Invite and Multi.
