Anneliese Klein Sets Program Record as Cobleskill Women Shine at Fast Trax Invitational

Klein wins the long jump and Freeguard takes 5000 meters

Utica, NY: The Fighting Tigers women's indoor track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Utica Fast Trax Invitational on Saturday, earning five top-five finishes and setting a new program record in the long jump.

In distance events, Alyssa Freeguard (Argyle, NY) dominated the 5000m, securing first place with a time of 19:26.68. Gabrielle Waite (Pulaski, NY) placed 12th in the mile with a time of 6:09.75, while Madison Binette (Lewiston, ME) clocked 2:00.46 in the 600m to finish fourth. In the 800m, Gillian Miner (Saranac, NY) also claimed a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 2:32.57. The distance medley relay team of Waite, Binette, Klein, and Freeguard earned third place.

In hurdles, Anneliese Klein (Carslie, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) placed eighth in the 60m hurdle prelims with a time of 9.78 and maintained her position in the finals, finishing eighth in 9.88. Guerna Becker (Fairfield, MT) also competed, placing 20th with a time of 10.79.

The highlight of the meet came in the long jump, where Anneliese Klein secured first place with a leap of 5.33m (17-6), setting a new program record and hitting the regional qualifying standard.

In the throws, Adira-Virginia Greer-Padilla (Fallsburg, NY) finished ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 11.87m (38-11 ½), while Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) recorded a new personal best of 11.19m (36-8 ½) for 14th place. In the shot put, Alyssa Abbot (Bliss, NY/Letchworth Central) finished in 15th place with a toss of 9.38m (30-9 ¼), Greer-Padilla placed 17th with a distance of 9.02m (29-7 ¼), and Gosselin recorded 8.77m (8-9 ¼) afor 22nd place, with Abbott and Greer-Padilla setting new personal records.

The Fighting Tigers return to the track next Friday and Saturday as they travel to SUNY Brockport for the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
