Logan Thayne Earns D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region Honors

SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball senior center Logan Thayne (Hoosick Falls, NY) has been named to the D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region 1 for the second consecutive season, capping off an outstanding senior year.

Thayne was a dominant presence in the paint, leading the Fighting Tigers to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and the program's first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship. Head Coach Megan Bowman praised her two-time All-Region standout.

"Logan earning All-Region Second Team is a fitting way to cap off one of the greatest careers in program history," Bowman said. "She took her game to another level this season, and it showed in every game. No matter the tempo or defensive pressure, she remained a steady force, making the right plays and staying tough to contain."

Earlier this year, Thayne was named NAC Player of the Year for the second straight season and earned All-Conference First Team honors for the second year in a row. She set a program record by being named NAC Player of the Week seven times and also earned a Defensive Player of the Week nod. Additionally, she landed a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, further solidifying her status as one of the top players in Division III.

Coach Bowman emphasized Thayne's impact beyond the stat sheet.

"What makes Logan special isn't just her talent but her leadership on and off the court and is something that will be with our program for years to come." Bowman added. "She's one of the best centers in the country, capable of scoring at all three levels. Her consistency, work ethic, and leadership were a huge part of our success. She continues to raise the bar for our program and put Cobleskill on the national stage."

Thayne put up historic numbers in her senior campaign, playing in 28 games with 27 starts while averaging 18.0 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.7 assists per game. She shot 45.4 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from three-point range, and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line. On the national stage, she ranked second in double-doubles (24), sixth in total rebounds (347), 11th in rebounds per game (12.4), 20th in defensive rebounds per game (7.8), 14th in offensive rebounds per game (4.6), and tied for 27th in total blocks (55).

Players were nominated for All-Region honors by Sports Information Directors nationwide, with 789 total nominees. The ballot was made available to a selection of SIDs, as well as D3hoops.com staff and contributors, who voted for a predetermined number of players in each region. This marks the 24th season that D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams.

Division III basketball is divided into 10 regions, with regions containing 40 or more teams recognizing three All-Region teams. Regions with fewer than 40 teams select a first and second team, leading to approximately 10 additional players being honored compared to the previous eight-region format.

With another All-Region selection, Thayne cements her legacy as one of the greatest players in Cobleskill history, leaving behind a championship-winning foundation for the program's future.
