Utica, NY: The Cobleskill women's track and field team hit the ground running in their outdoor season opener at the Utica Almost Spring Invite on Sunday, highlighted by standout performances from
Anneliese Klein (Carslie, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) and
Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) across multiple events.
Klein was a force on the track and in the field, hurdling her way to a pair of runner-up finishes. She clocked 17.69 in the 100-meter hurdles and followed it up with a strong 1:11.21 in the 400-meter hurdles. She also soared to third place in the long jump with a mark of 4.95 meters (16-3).
In the throws, Gosselin had a career day, unleashing a personal-best 33.12 meters (108-8) in the hammer throw to claim fifth place. She also took second in the discus with a toss of 28.53 meters (93-7), capping off an impressive season debut.
Jessica Carney (Hopkinton, NH) showed out in her outdoor debut with a fourth place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 30.49 meters (100-0).
Gillian Miner (Saranac, NY) showcased her endurance with a third-place finish in the 800 meters, stopping the clock at 2:39.33. She also placed 10th in the 1500 meters at 5:28.93, with teammate
Madison Binette (Lewistown, ME) finishing 15th at 5:39.72.
Guerna Becker (Fairfield, MT) added to Cobleskill's success in the jumps, landing second place in the triple jump with a leap of 9.11 meters (29-10 ¾).
