Utica, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill women's track and field team delivered several strong performances at Sunday's Utica Pioneer Spring Invitational, headlined by first-year standout
Anneliese Klein (Carslie, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville), who set a new program record in the 400-meter hurdles and claimed two event victories at the Laura M. Casamento Field.
Klein shattered the Cobleskill record in the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 1:06.38, breaking the previous mark of 1:07.79 set by Princess Joefield. The performance also qualified her for the AARTFC regional standard. Earlier in the day, Klein opened her meet with a win in the long jump, hitting 5.36 meters (17-7) to top the field.
She also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.60, with first-year teammate
Guerna Becker (Fairfield, MT) close behind in fifth at 17.64. Becker returned to the runway for the triple jump, placing 12th with a mark of 9.40 meters (30-10 ¼).
On the track, the Tigers saw steady middle-distance efforts from
Gillian Miner (Saranac, NY) and
Madison Binette (Lewiston, ME). In the 1500 meters, Miner placed 18th in 5:26.72, followed by Binette in 21st at 5:31.63. The pair returned in the 800 meters, with Miner finishing 13th (2:38.08) and Binette 14th (2:41.43).
In the 5000 meters,
Gabrielle Waite (Pulaski, NY) rounded out the team's distance efforts with an eighth-place finish in 20:44.06, closing a productive day for Cobleskill on the track and in the field.
In the throwing department,
Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) achieved a personal best as she placed fifth with a toss of 31.92 meters (104-9).
