Logan Thayne Named SUNY Cobleskill Female Athlete of the Year

Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department hosted its annual Athletics Award Ceremony earlier this May, where senior Logan Thayne (Hoosick Falls, NY) of the Fighting Tiger women's basketball team was named the SUNY Cobleskill Female Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.

A two-time NAC Player of the Year and now a two-time recipient of Cobleskill's Female Athlete of the Year award, Thayne turned in one of the most dominant seasons in the nation and in Cobleskill history. She earned All-Conference First Team honors and was selected to the D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region 1 for the second straight year. She also set a program record by being named NAC Player of the Week seven times and was honored once as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Thayne was also recognized nationally with a selection to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.

Her consistent and commanding presence helped lead the Fighting Tigers to a 21-4 regular season record, including an 11-2 mark in North Atlantic Conference play and a perfect 13-0 record at home. Behind Thayne's leadership, Cobleskill secured its second straight NAC West Division Championship, its first-ever NAC Championship title, and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Thayne appeared in 28 games with 27 starts, averaging 18.0 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.7 assists per game. She shot 45.4 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from three-point range, and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line. Nationally, she ranked second in Division III in double-doubles (24), sixth in total rebounds (347), 11th in rebounds per game (12.4), 20th in defensive rebounds per game (7.8), 14th in offensive rebounds per game (4.6), and tied for 27th in total blocks (55).

In conference play, Thayne led the NAC in free throw percentage (83.5), total blocks (50), blocks per game (1.9), total rebounds (327), offensive rebounds (123), and defensive rebounds (204). She also ranked second in points per game (18.9), rebounds per game (12.6), field goal percentage (46.8), and total points (492).

Head women's basketball coach Megan Bowman praised Thayne for putting together the most decorated career in program history.

"To no surprise, Logan was the unanimous Female Athlete of the Year due to another historic season and effort," said Bowman. "Logan saved her best performances for her last season and found a way to outperform her previous season. Her success on the hardwood impacted winning in every sense of the word. While winning a championship was her only goal, what she has accomplished in a Cobleskill uniform is second to none. Our program is forever grateful for the sacrifices Logan made for our team. Her success, attitude, and work ethic will impact our program for years to come."
