Taylor Meacham Named SUNY Cobleskill Scholar Athlete of the Year and Performance of the Year Recipient

Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department honored senior Taylor Meacham (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) of the Fighting Tiger women's basketball team with two major awards at its annual Athletics Awards Ceremony held earlier this May, recognizing her as the 2024–25 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and the recipient of the Performance of the Year award.

The Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award is presented to the Fighting Tiger student-athlete who has excelled both in the classroom and in competition, while the Performance of the Year award highlights the most outstanding individual effort in a single contest during the season.

A three-year captain, Meacham capped her collegiate career by earning her first All-Conference selection with a spot on the 2024 NAC Third Team. She averaged 11.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

Her signature moment came in the NAC Women's Basketball Championship game, where she delivered a season-high 24 points, six rebounds, a steal, and an assist while shooting 62.5 percent from the field (10-of-16). The performance earned her Tournament MVP honors and helped lead the Fighting Tigers to their first-ever NAC Title.

Off the court, Meacham has been equally impressive. She graduated this spring with dual degrees—a B.T. and B.S. in Animal Science—while earning minors in histology and therapeutic horsemanship. A nine-time Dean's List honoree, she is a two-time recipient of the Excellence in Student Leadership Award and previously received the SUNY Cobleskill Scholar Athlete of the Year award in 2023 and the Sportsmanship Award in 2024. She was also named the 2024 NAC Women's Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Fighting Tiger Head Women's Basketball Coach Megan Bowman praised Meacham's lasting impact on the program.

"Taylor was more than deserving of this final award. She put the finishing touch on what has been the most successful two-way career in our program's history—both on the court and in the classroom," said Bowman. "You couldn't ask for a better role model for future student-athletes. She's someone who truly valued education while excelling in her sport. Every challenge we gave her, she met with a confident 'Yes, Coach,' and followed through with full commitment. Taylor leaves Cobleskill having checked nearly every box—our only NAC Senior Scholar Athlete, our only NAC Tournament MVP, and the all-time winningest player in program history."
