Morgan Flamholtz at NCAA Convention for Mental Health

Morgan Flamholtz Champions a Mental Health First Approach in Cobleskill Athletics

Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech Athletics Department is proud to recognize Morgan Flamholtz for her continued leadership and involvement as a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) facilitator through a partnership with the National Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training program designed to equip participants with the skills to recognize signs of mental health challenges, provide initial support, and connect individuals with appropriate resources. Through her role as a facilitator, Flamholtz has worked to educate and empower student-athlete leaders, coaches, and staff at both the campus and national levels.

Flamholtz recently had the opportunity to help facilitate Mental Health First Aid training for the National Division III SAAC at the NCAA Convention hosted at Washington D.C., contributing to a national effort focused on expanding mental health education and advocacy within Division III athletics.

Cobleskill Ag & Tech will also host a Mental Health First Aid training session on Saturday, January 24, where approximately 20 student-athletes will complete MHFA certification. In addition, all Cobleskill coaching staff will be MHFA trained, reinforcing the department's commitment to creating a supportive and informed athletics environment.

Flamholtz's involvement reflects Cobleskill's ongoing dedication to supporting the holistic well-being of its student-athletes, recognizing that mental health is a critical component of success both in competition and in the classroom.

"Having the opportunity to facilitate Mental Health First Aid training for Division III SAAC was an amazing experience," said Flamholtz. "It gave student-athlete leaders the tools to recognize, support, and advocate for mental well-being within their teams and campuses. Being able to help train others at both the campus and national level allows me to expand that impact, strengthen outreach, and contribute to a culture where mental health is prioritized alongside athletic and academic success. I am so grateful that Division III has invested in this initiative."

SUNY Cobleskill Athletics continues to prioritize education, awareness, and access to resources that foster a culture of care, support, and connection across campus and throughout the Division III community.
