Delhi, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech women's basketball team delivered a wire-to-wire performance on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 71-37 North Atlantic Conference road victory over SUNY Delhi. The win marked the 100th career victory for Head Coach
Megan Bowman.
Hannah Bonczkowski (Gilbertsville, NY) led all scorers with 17 points to go along with four rebounds and two steals, knocking down 6-of-10 shots from the floor and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Jaiyla Colon (Worcester, MA) turned in another all-around effort with 14 points, eight rebounds, four steals, three assists, and two blocks while shooting 6-of-12 from the field.
Alyssa Martin (Castleton, NY) tied her season high with nine points, draining three triples, while
Kyara Triblet (Colonie, NY) added eight points.
Sydney Delisle (Mechanicville, NY) anchored the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds to go with three assists and three points.
Cobleskill controlled every phase of the game, shooting 37.7 percent from the field and an impressive 47.6 percent from three-point range, while holding Delhi to just 23.1 percent shooting overall. The Tigers dominated the boards, 51-36, and owned the paint with a 28-12 scoring advantage. Their pressure defense forced 21 turnovers that turned into 31 points, and Cobleskill moved the ball efficiently all afternoon, finishing with 18 assists. The Tigers' lead ballooned to as many as 36 points.
After an early back-and-forth start, Cobleskill seized control midway through the first quarter. With the score tied at 5-5, the Tigers ripped off a 12-0 run, holding Delhi scoreless for the final 5:24 of the quarter. Triblet scored six points during the surge, while Bonczkowski added four, as Cobleskill carried a 17-5 advantage into the second.
The Tigers continued to stretch the lead in the second quarter. Colon found Martin for a corner three, and another long ball - this time from
Emilie Eritano (Madison Heights, MI) - pushed the margin to double digits. Bonczkowski took over late in the half, scoring eight points in the final four minutes, capped by a buzzer-beating three to send Cobleskill into halftime with a 33-16 lead.
Cobleskill wasted no time after the break, opening the third quarter with a 5-0 run, highlighted by an and-one from Colon. A layup from
Zaylee Ramos (Worcester, MA) off a feed from
Kate Hadwen (Fair Haven, VT) made it 47-18, and back-to-back triples from Martin kept the Tigers firmly in command as they entered the fourth quarter ahead 53-28.
Bonczkowski scored five straight points to open the final period, pushing the lead to 58-28. Delisle later knocked down a three, assisted by Colon, before Colon added her own layup as the Tigers closed out a dominant 71-37 victory.
The milestone win made Bowman the second coach in Cobleskill history at the NCAA Division III level—and the first women's basketball coach—to reach 100 career victories, doing so faster than any coach before her. She is also the youngest coach to reach the mark, underscoring the consistency and culture built within the program.
