Clinton, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's cross country team placed third out of six teams at the Hamilton Tune-Up Invitational on Saturday, competing on Hamilton College's 5K course in its final race before the SUNYAC Championships.
Aiden Pettit (Corinth, NY) paced the Fighting Tigers in a tightly contested finish with teammate
Reid Starks-Swotkewicz (Schoharie, NY). Pettit crossed the line in 17:01.4 to place 19th overall, edging Starks-Swotkewicz by just one-tenth of a second. Starks-Swotkewicz finished 20th in 17:01.5 as the two teammates crossed nearly side-by-side.
Michael Jocz (Syracuse, NY) was the next Tiger across the line, placing 26th with a time of 18:10.7.
Hunter Johnson (Union Dale, PA) followed in 34th at 19:08.2, just ahead of
David Kogan (Brooklyn, NY), who finished 35th in 19:14.0.
Julian Brito (Brooklyn, NY) stayed close to that scoring pack and crossed in 38th with a time of 19:49.4, while
Lucas Walz (Baldwinsville, NY) rounded out the Cobleskill lineup in 50th at 23:36.1.
With Pettit and Starks-Swotkewicz finishing just a fraction of a second apart and the Tigers placing third as a team, Cobleskill now turns its attention to the postseason and its first SUNYAC Cross Country Championships.
