Starks-Swotkewicz Leads Tigers to Runner-Up Finish at Bronco Classic

Delhi, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's cross country team turned in a strong team performance on Wednesday afternoon, placing second at the annual SUNY Delhi Bronco Classic at the College Golf Course at Delhi.

First-year Reid Starks-Swotkewicz (Schoharie, NY) paced the Fighting Tigers with the first top-five finish of his collegiate career. Starks-Swotkewicz covered the course in 17:30.8 to place fifth overall, narrowly edging teammate Aiden Pettit (Corinth, NY) in a sprint to the finish. Pettit crossed just two-tenths of a second later in 17:31.0 to finish sixth, giving Cobleskill a strong one-two presence near the front of the field.

Junior Michael Jocz (Syracuse, NY) gave the Tigers a third runner inside the top 10, placing 10th with a time of 18:18.9. Hunter Johnson (Union Dale, PA) followed closely in 11th, crossing the line in 18:46.7 to keep Cobleskill's scoring pack tightly grouped. David Kogan (Brooklyn, NY) rounded out the Tigers' five scoring runners with a 15th-place finish in 19:36.6. With all five scorers finishing inside the top 15, Cobleskill used its depth and tight pack running to secure the runner-up team finish.

Julian Brito (Brooklyn, NY) added a 17th-place finish in 20:22.5, while Charlie Cooper (Connetquot, NY) and Lucas Walz (Baldwinsville, NY) crossed in 21st and 22nd, respectively.
