Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team will travel to Castine, Maine on Sunday, February 22 for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinal matchup against top-seeded Maine Maritime Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
In a rematch of the last two NAC Championship Games, the Fighting Tigers enter the semifinal with a 15-10 overall record and an 11-7 mark in conference play. Cobleskill has found its rhythm at the right time, going 8-1 over its last nine contests and carrying a four-game NAC Tournament winning streak dating back to last season's championship run.
Maine Maritime, the tournament's top seed, brings a 17-8 overall record and a 16-2 NAC ledger into Sunday's contest after earning home-court advantage throughout the postseason.
The two programs met twice during the regular season, with the Mariners earning a 65-40 win in Castine on November 22 and a 58-39 victory in Cobleskill on January 16. Sunday's semifinal presents another opportunity for the Tigers to test themselves and look to pull off a road upset after advancing with a 49-36 win over Thomas College in the NAC Quarterfinals on Thursday night.
Cobleskill's offense is led by junior
Hannah Bonczkowski (Gilbertsville, NY), who averages 10.2 points per game and has knocked down a team-high 41 three-pointers, stretching opposing defenses from beyond the arc.
Kyara Triblet (Colonie, NY), who joined the team in the second half of the season, has provided an efficient inside presence, averaging 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 45.1 percent from the field.
Jaiyla Colon (Worcester, MA) has been one of the Tigers' most impactful two-way players, contributing 9.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in just under 24 minutes per outing. Her ability to facilitate, defend passing lanes, and attack off the dribble has been key to Cobleskill's recent surge.
Depth has also been a factor. First-year guard
Kate Hadwen (Fair Haven, VT) is averaging 7.2 points per game, while
Zaylee Ramos (Worcester, MA) adds 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, giving the Tigers valuable production off the bench and energy in key stretches.
Maine Maritime is paced by Addison Forry, who averages 11.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, anchoring the Mariners in the paint. Evelyn Dagan adds 10.6 points per contest and has connected on 62 three-pointers this season.
Cobleskill has enjoyed success in recent semifinal appearances, earning a 76-33 victory over SUNY Canton during the 2023-24 postseason and a 104-41 win over Lesley last season. The Tigers will look to carry that postseason experience and recent momentum into another high-stakes conference battle on Sunday afternoon.
