Women's Basketball Suffer 84-44 Loss at Union College

Fighting Tigers Commit 31 Turnovers in Non-Conference Loss

Schenectady, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team suffered an 84-44 setback at Union College on Monday evening in non-conference action at Union's Viniar Athletic Center. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-6 overall on the campaign while the Dutchwomen improve to 8-4 this season.

The game was effectively decided in the first half when Union posted a 47-19 lead at the break on the strength of a 16-for-32, 50.0%, shooting effort. The Dutchwomen's defense played havoc with the Fighting Tigers offense throughout the contest limiting Cobleskill to only 17-of-54, 31.5%, from the field while forcing the visitors into 31 turnovers on the night.

On the day she was announced as the NCAA Division III' s leading rebounder; sophomore forward Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, posted her seventh consecutive double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds for Cobleskill.

The Fighting Tigers will return to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Wednesday evening when they host the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute with tip-off slated for 5:00 p.m.
