Morrisville, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill western equestrian team closed out the semester in impressive fashion bringing home a second place finish and a first place finish from a pair of Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 2 Region 3 contests hosted by Morrisville State College. At the close of the semester the Fighting Tigers are currently ranked second overall in the regional standings with 153 points trailing Morrisville State who has currently amassed a total of 165 points.
The Fighting Tigers posted a team score of 30 points in the opening show finishing second to Morrisville's 33 point total then charged back to take a 30-18 decision over the host Mustangs in the second show.
Senior
Baylee Reader, Rome, N.Y. , Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, tied for the High Point Rider Honors for the second show with a winning in Reigning to go with a fifth place finish in Open Western Horsemanship for a total of nine points in the event.
The Fighting Tigers also received stellar efforts in the first show from: senior
Mikalla Tweedie, Harford, N.Y., Marathon High School, who won the Level I Western Horsemanship Division, freshman
Jullian Peek, Schuylerville, N.Y., Schuylerville High School, who won the Level II Western Horsemanship Division, and sophomore
Morgan McCall, Bainbridge, N.Y. , Bainbridge-Guilford Central School, who won the Rookie A Western Horsemanship Division.
In the nightcap the Orange & Black received Division wins from
Jullian Peek who once again won the Level II Western Horsemanship Division, junior
Emma Jenks, Millerton, N.Y., Upton Lake High School, who captured the Level I Western Horsemanship Division, senior
Brendan D'Costa, Hicksville, N.Y., Jericho High School, who won the Rookie B Western Horsemanship Section B Division, sophomore
Gabrielle Weston, Patchogue, N.Y., Patchogue-Medford High School, who won the who won the Rookie B Western Horsemanship Section C Division, and junior
Taylor Lloyd, Chemung, N.Y., Waverly High School, who captured The Beginner Western Horsemanship Division.
Cobleskill will return to action after the winter break on Saturday February 15
th when they return to Morrisville State for a pair of IHSA events beginning at 9:00 a.m.
