Morrisville, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill western equestrian team opened the semester at Morrisville State over the weekend posting a second place and first place finish at a pair of regular season Region 3 Zone 2 shows hosted by the Mustang at the Morrisville Equestrian Center.
In the opener, the Fighting Tigers tallied a total of 24 points placing second overall to Morrisville State at 30 points while beating Colgate University with six points. The second show saw Cobleskill take the event with a team total of 34 points with Morrisville State at 27 points and Colgate University with nine points.
Individually senior
Baylee Reader, Rome, N.Y., Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, tied for High Point Rider honors in the first show winning the Open Western Horsemanship category while finishing third overall in the Reigning category. Reader also took High Point Rider honors in the second show winning the Reigning category while taking fourth overall in Open Western Horsemanship.
Cobleskill also received Reserve Point Rider honors in the second show from sophomore
Hailey Hulz, Benson, V.T., Fair Haven Union High School, who placed second overall in Reigning and Open Western Horsemanship.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Sunday March 1
st when they travel to the Region 3 Zone 2 Championships hosted by Morrisville State in Morrisville, N.Y. beginning at 9:00 p.m.
