As they prepare for the 2019-20 indoor season, the SUNY Cobleskill women's track & field team will hear a new voice this year as interim head coach
Alex Macbeth takes over from long-time Fighting Tiger Head Coach Brad Fichthorn.
As his first indoor season leading the program fast approaches and the program prepares for its move to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) which sponsors track & field as a conference sport coach Macbeth sees this season as an important one in the program's development.
"This year it is all about building our numbers and developing our newcomers and getting them ready for the NAC and it is also all about growing our numbers because the more women we can get here to compete the better off we are going to be in the long run." Said coach Macbeth.
The returning members of the squad will be led by senior thrower
Sabrina Headrington, Phillipsburg, N.J., Phillipsburg High School, who will be chasing the program record in the hammer throw and senior mid-distance runner
Tori Stopen, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, who will be looking to make a run at the program's indoor 800-meter run record.
Two talented freshman will have to be watched this year as sprinter
Bailey Fifield, South Glens Falls, N.Y., Salem High School, and distance/mid-distance runner
Shania Steria, Boonville, N.Y., Adirondack High School, a First Team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Cross Country selection are poised for solid rookie seasons.
The Fighting Tigers will open the 2019-20 indoor season over the weekend when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the 2019 Fast Times Before Finals Meet hosted by Lehigh University on Friday December 6
th and Saturday December 7
th at the Mountain Hawks Rauch Fieldhouse.
