Cobleskill, N.Y.:  The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today the appointment of Liz Slupinski as the Head Softball Coach.  Slupinski served as the Interim Head Coach during the 2018-19 school year for the Fighting Tigers.  In her first season at the reins her team was crowned the North Atlantic Eastern Conference (NEAC) North Division Champions and made it to the league semi-finals.  It was the first time the Softball program had made the postseason since 2015.

"I would like to thank our Director of Athletics Marie Curran-Headley and the administration here at Cobleskill for the opportunity to be the head softball coach," said Coach Slupinski.  "I love being a member of the Athletic Department and the greater Cobleskill community. On the field, I am so excited to build off the success we had last season. We are bringing back a solid group of returners and have an excellent group of newcomers. I couldn't be more excited for this coming season and the future of Cobleskill softball."

In her first year in charge of the Fighting Tigers, Slupinski posted a 15-16 overall and an 11-5 NEAC record, which was an instant improvement from the programs 9-18 and 5-13 NEAC record in 2018.  Additionally, the program had five players selected to the 2019 All-NEAC Teams, which mark the most in a single season by the Fighting Tigers in program history.

Director of Athletics Marie Curran-Headley had the following to say, "I am very excited to remove the Interim title and continue forward with Liz Slupinski as our Head Softball Coach.  In her first season, Liz  made an immediate impact, leading our Softball program to the NEAC North Division title and a playoff birth as our Interim Head Coach.  I'm confident in her abilities as a leader and softball coach, combined with her passionate work ethic, that we will continue to be headed toward a bright future with our softball program."

Slupinski came to the Fighting Tigers after spending the past two-seasons as the head coach at The University of the Redlands in Redlands, Calf.; where she guided the Bulldogs to a 31-49 overall record including a 22-34 mark, in the highly competitive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Before The University of the Redlands, she served as the head coach of the Wells College softball program in Aurora, N.Y.   During her time at Wells, she was instrumental in the reimplementation of the softball program after a year hiatus.  Among her duties, she was involved with the development of the school's first-ever turf field and the recruiting of an incoming softball class of student-athletes to re-establish The Express program.

Prior to her time at Wells College, she spent four years as a full-time assistant coach on the staff at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.   During her time with the Continentals, she also served as the "Interim" Head Coach during a four-month transition in the head-coaching position.  In addition to coaching, she assisted with sports information and photography work.

Slupinski was four-year softball student-athlete at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., where she started in right-field for a Yellow Jacket team that qualified for two NCAA tournament appearances.  As a freshman, Slupinski earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Second Team All-Conference honors and later returned from injury to collect Liberty League Second Team All-Conference recognition as a senior.  She also collected Liberty League All-Conference Honorable Mentions in 2008 and 2009.
