Men's Golf Pre-Tournament Poll

Men's Golf Ranked Fifth in NAC Pre-Championship Poll

Junior Joshua House enters the NAC Championship as one of the favorites to win

Cobleskill, N.Y. – The SUNY Cobleskill men's golf team has been ranked fifth among eight teams in the North Atlantic Conference's (NAC) 2024 Pre-Championship Poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

This season, the Fighting Tigers have posted several impressive results and look poised to improve on their fifth-place finish last year. Head Coach Brock Ricketts is excited to see what his team can do.

"We have a great group of guys. The team has tremendous confidence going into this weekend to showcase what we have and how far we have come. We are excited for this weekend."

The Fighting Tigers return three players from the 2023 NAC Championship, where they placed fifth with a 676 team card. Junior Joshua House (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) will lead the Fighting Tigers after earning Second Team All-Conference honors with a 10th-place finish, while senior Leo Rosenstadt (Westchester, N.Y./Scarsdale) and junior Isaac Walker (Roxbury, N.Y.) return from 23rd and 38th place finishes, respectively.

House has emerged as one of the conference's top players this fall, with a tournament win, a second place finish and other top-10 finishes in all four of SUNY Cobleskill's events. His 67 at the Fighting Tigers' home invitational on September 1st stands as the lowest score by any NAC golfer this season.

Coach Ricketts highlighted the leadership that these returning players bring to the team.

"We are led by Josh House who has had a stellar Fall season, capturing the SUNY Cobleskill Fall Invitational with a round of 67. He will lead our group into the fight. We have some returning players from last year's Championship in Isaac and Leo. Between the both of them, they have a lot of leadership and wisdom. Both have been in big moments and bring balance to our lineup."

Newcomers Jacob Morris (Norwich, N.Y.) and Benjamin Casola (Oneonta, N.Y.) will add depth to the roster and will step into the tournament lineup. Coach Ricketts praised the freshmen for their growth this season.

"Coming in this year we were down two scoring spots, but two freshmen, Jacob Morris and Benjamin Casola, seized the opportunity and took those two spots. Over the Fall season, they have made tremendous strides on the golf course."

The 2024 NAC Championship will be held on Sunday, October 14th, and Monday, October 15th at Chicopee Country Club in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The winner will earn an automatic berth in the 2025 NCAA DIII Men's Golf Championship.
