Waterville, ME: The SUNY Cobleskill second-year standout runner
Lilianna Peters (Hinsdale, NY/Allegany-Limestone) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Co-Runner of the Year, marking the second time in her career she's received this honor.
Â
Peters has led the Fighting Tigers all season, starting with five consecutive invitational wins and capping her season with a second-place finish at the NAC Championships. In that race, she broke her own course record with a time of 22:48.6.
Â
Head Coach Zach Haskin praised Peters for her dedication and steady progress throughout the season.
Â
"Lilianna hit the ground running at the beginning of the year," Haskin said. "Despite her strong start, she continued to progress tremendously. She had a stellar season, winning five out of the seven regular-season meets. Her time at the NAC Championships puts her in a good position to potentially earn an individual bid to the NCAA National Championship meet."
Â
Peters' wins this season include the VTSU-Castleton Invitational (20:27), SUNY Cobleskill Steven A. Warde Invitational (23:21.93), SUNY Delhi NAC Preview Meet (23:05.8, a former course record), Bard College Fred Pavlich Invitational (24:32.7), and the 26th Annual Bronco Classic (19:36.3).
Â
In 2023, Peters was named both Runner and Rookie of the Year, making this Co-Runner of the Year award a continuation of her impressive achievements at Cobleskill.
Â
Peters and her teammates will be in action this Saturday, November 16
th, as they travel to SUNY Fredonia for the NCAA Division III Niagara Regionals.
