Cobleskill, N.Y.: An estimated crowd of 135 people joined the SUNY Cobleskill baseball program on Saturday February 10 for the Fighting Tigers First Annual First Pitch Luncheon highlighted by keynote speaker Josh Rawitch the President of the Baseball Hall-of-Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.
The program, hosted at Cobleskill's Champlin Hall, also introduced the 2024 Fighting Tigers to the public as the three-time defending North Atlantic Conference (NAC) is looking to defend their league division title after coming off a 2023 season which saw them post the best record in program history at 22-15 including a divisional best 13-2 record.
According to Fighting Tiger Head Coach
Austin Straub, the 2023 NAC Coach-of-the-Year, the luncheon is a great way to get the 2024 campaign started while expressing gratitude to all who came out to support the program.
"I want to thank Josh Rawitch for coming out and helping us along with our college president Dr. Marion Terenzio and our many fans who were in attendance for their support. We are looking to make this a yearly event and now that we've experienced the excitement this program brings to the season, we are looking to do this on an annual basis."
The Fighting Tigers are tentatively scheduled to open the season on Monday February 19, weather permitting, when they travel to Patchogue, N.Y. for a doubleheader versus the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's University of Long Island beginning at a time to be announced.
