Cobleskill, NY – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced that SUNY Cobleskill head coach
Austin Straub, along with assistants
Ryan Fay and
Chris Champlin, have been named the 2026 NAC Coaching Staff of the Year, as voted by the league's coaches.
The honor marks the second time Straub has received Coach of the Year recognition, as he and his staff guided the Fighting Tigers to their sixth consecutive NAC postseason appearance. Cobleskill also set a new program record for conference wins in a single season, finishing with a 16-8 mark in NAC play and a 20-21 overall record.
Under their leadership, the Tigers had five players named to the All-NAC First Team and produced multiple conference statistical leaders, highlighting the program's continued development and success.
When informed of the honor, Straub credited his staff and players for their commitment and culture throughout the season.
"It reassures us as a staff that we're doing what we need to do from a team culture and player development standpoint. More importantly than their expertise in baseball, my assistants are great people and mentors. None of our success happens without our players truly enjoying coming to the field every day. We care about development off the field just as much as on it, so this recognition means more than just winning games—it reflects our commitment to our players' growth. We recruited and retained the right type of players for our program, and there was total buy-in across the roster, with everyone pushing each other through the ups and downs of the season."
