Logan Firment Named SUNY Cobleskill Male Scholar Athlete of the Year

Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department honored senior Logan Firment (Andes, NY/South Kortright) of the Fighting Tiger baseball team as the 2025-26 Male Scholar Athlete of the Year during the department's annual Athletics Awards Ceremony. Firment earned the honor for the second consecutive year.

The Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to a Fighting Tiger student-athlete who has achieved a high level of success in competition while also demonstrating an outstanding commitment to academic excellence.

Firment has been a steady and respected presence for the Fighting Tigers throughout his Cobleskill career, making an impact both in the classroom and on the diamond. A senior outfielder, Firment helped lead Cobleskill to another conference postseason appearance this spring while putting together one of the strongest seasons of his career.

On the field, Firment earned First Team All-North Atlantic Conference honors after batting .343 with a 1.071 OPS, .649 slugging percentage and .422 on-base percentage. He finished the season with 46 hits, 35 RBIs, 10 doubles, seven home runs and five triples, while also adding nine stolen bases.

In the classroom, Firment has matched his athletic success with consistent academic achievement. A Landscape Contracting major, he held a 3.70 grade point average and has been a regular member of the Dean's List throughout his time at Cobleskill. He was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the second straight season, recognizing his combined success academically and athletically.

Fighting Tiger Head Baseball Coach Austin Straub praised Firment's work ethic, leadership and the standard he has set for the program.

"Logan is the truest example of how classroom success translates to the field. Often times our best players are also our best students, and Logan has been the prime example of what a student-athlete should stride for. With over a 3.7 GPA in the classroom and being a four year starter in our program, Logan, through his work ethic, responsibility, maturity and leadership, has created the standard of what excellence looks like for our program."

Firment's success as a student and as an athlete has made him one of the top representatives of the SUNY Cobleskill baseball program and a deserving recipient of the 2025-26 Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
