Women's Basketball Head Coach Megan Bowman Inducted into Russell Sage Athletics Hall of Fame

Albany, N.Y. – SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball head coach Megan Bowman was inducted into the Russell Sage College Athletics Hall of Fame on October 5, 2025, in recognition of her outstanding career as a member of the Gators' women's basketball program from 2011 to 2015.

Bowman was a double inductee during the ceremony, as the 2013–2014 Russell Sage women's basketball team was also honored as a Team of Distinction.

During her playing career, Bowman set the program record with 458 assists and finished third in program history with 1,080 career points (currently sixth) and 258 steals (second). The standout guard holds the top two single-season marks for assists in program history and earned numerous accolades throughout her career, including D3Hoops.com All-Region Third Team honors in 2013–2014. She was a two-time First Team All-Skyline Conference selection, a one-time Second Team honoree, and was named the 2014 Skyline Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading the Gators to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

The 2013–2014 Russell Sage women's basketball team made history as the first in program history to capture a conference championship, winning the Skyline Conference title on its home court and setting a single-season record for wins (17). Bowman led the team in scoring (12.7 points per game), assists (142), and steals (74), while earning First Team All-Conference honors. Teammate Frankie Pearson was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, and forward Amie Jefferson led the team in rebounds (195) and blocked shots (25).

Reflecting on her induction, Bowman expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and the journey it represents.

"Being inducted into the Sage Hall of Fame is incredibly personal to both me and my family. It's more than just an award—it's a reflection and celebration of years of hard work, sacrifice, and resiliency throughout my time at Sage," said Bowman. "This honor really brings everything full circle. Sage is where I found my confidence again as a player, where I was pushed to grow as a person, and most importantly, where I was surrounded by people who believed in me from the start. Coach Cito told me on my very first day she was giving me the keys to the program, and despite the bumps along the way, it was her trust in me that kept us driving forward. To be remembered this way by the place that shaped me into the person and coach I am today means more than I can put into words."

Bowman also reflected on the significance of being inducted alongside her teammates.

"Being inducted into the Hall of Fame as a player is something I'll always treasure, but to be honored on the same day as my team—that makes it truly special," she said. "The heart of my game was always passing, and becoming Sage's all-time assist leader was never a solo achievement. Every assist required a teammate who finished the play, who trusted me, who ran the floor, and shared the same drive to win. That's why this moment means so much—because I get to share it with the very group who made it all possible. We were a team of trailblazers, and despite the personal accolades so many of us had, the accomplishment of winning the first championship for Sage was what truly mattered to each of us. To be honored not just as an individual, but alongside the team that defined my career—that's the greatest recognition I could ask for."
