Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team is set to open the 2025-26 campaign after being ranked second in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.
The Fighting Tigers are coming off a historic 2024-25 season that saw the program capture its first-ever NAC Championship, defeating Maine Maritime Academy 55-53 in the title game. Cobleskill finished the year 24-5 overall and 11-2 in conference play (including an undefeated 14-0 home record), cementing itself as one of the league's premier programs.
Head coach
Megan Bowman, entering her seventh season at the helm, said she's been impressed with her team's focus and maturity throughout the preseason. "This group is motivated and eager to showcase both our returning and new talent," Bowman said. "One thing that hasn't changed from last year is our culture and discipline. A common theme in every practice and meeting has been that people change, but our standards do not. We may win differently this season, but our goal remains the same—to play with intensity, stay composed, and be the aggressor every time we step on the floor."
Cobleskill returns five players from last year's championship roster, led by junior guard
Kyra Pence (Randolph, NY), who will look to take on a bigger role offensively this season. Junior center
Mady Victorin (Menands, NY) and senior forward
Kayleigh Bryant (Schenevus, NY) bring experience and toughness to the frontcourt, giving the Tigers an inside presence on both ends of the floor.
Bowman said her veteran core has shown strong leadership and is ready to rise to the occasion. "We're expecting big production from Kyra this season," Bowman said. "In her first two years she played behind some offensive standouts, but now it's her turn to lead on both ends. Kayleigh was huge for us in the championship game last year, and she's continued to bring that same energy alongside the physical play of Mady. These returners have learned from some great players who came before them, and they're ready to make their mark."
The Tigers also welcome a talented group of newcomers ready to make an immediate impact. Bowman's incoming class includes a balanced mix of first-years and transfers, giving Cobleskill both depth and versatility. "After graduating a big senior class, we had the chance to re-load with players who fit our style perfectly," said Bowman. "
Kate Hadwen comes in as a proven winner after leading her team to back-to-back Vermont State Championships and has adjusted quickly to the college game. Our transfers bring offensive firepower and athleticism, and this is one of the deepest and most dynamic guard groups we've had here. Their experience and leadership will allow us to play fast, disciplined, and confident."
Cobleskill opens the 2025-26 season at home on Sunday, November 9, when they host Elmira College at 2:00 p.m. inside Iorio Gymnasium.
