Box Score 2 Baltimore, Md.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team opened their season with a pair of non-conference road losses to the host Gators of Notre Dame University of Maryland on Monday afternoon. The Fighting Tigers dropped the opener by a 5-2 tally then fell in the nightcap by a score of 15-7. With the losses Cobleskill opens the season with a 0-2 overall record while the Gators even their season record at 2-2.
In the opener, four Fighting Tiger errors turned sophomore hurler
Emily Anger, Atlanta, N.Y., Wyland-Cohocton High School, into a hard luck loser as the right hander allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking two in six innings of work.
Offensively, sophomore second baseman
Jaimee Lord, Mechanicville, N.Y., Ballston-Spa High School, was 2-for-4 with a run scored while junior first baseman
Jessica DeVoe, Gloversville, N.Y., Gloversville High School, was 1-for-4 with the team's lone run batted in.
The second game the Lord/DeVoe combination proved equally productive offensively as Lord went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored while DeVoe was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored. Junior third baseman
Megan Golden, Oxford, N.Y., Oxford Academy, was also productive at the plate for the Orange & Black, going 1-for-3 with a double, a run batted in and two runs scored in the contest.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Tuesday March 22
nd when they travel to Dallas, Pa. for a doubleheader versus Misericordia College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
