Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team will take to the road this week to Bangor, Maine to play for the 2021 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship hosted by Husson University at the Eagles' Harold Alfond Diamond. The best two-of-three series will begin with a pair of games on Thursday May 20 beginning at 12:00 p.m. followed by a tentatively scheduled 3:00 p.m. contest. If necessary the tournament will play a potential deciding game on Friday May 21 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
All games will be nine inning contests and in the case of inclement weather, Saturday will serve as the make-up date with all game information to be announced. The winner of the series will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Baseball National Championship Tournament.
In their first year of NAC membership, the Fighting Tigers posted a 14-7 overall record including a 10-4 conference mark and advanced to the league's championship series by defeating the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute twice at home this past Saturday at Fighting Tiger Field by scores of 6-5 and 8-7 to capture the NAC Western Division Title.
The Eagles captured the NAC Eastern Division Championship this season going 20-6 overall on the year with an 18-2 record in conference action. Husson won the eastern division crown and advanced to the championship series by virtue of defeating the Terriers of Thomas College on Friday May 14 by scores of 12-0 and 10-7.
During the season, offensively the Fighting Tigers hit .287 as a team with 64 extra base hits including 18 home runs on the year while the Cobleskill pitching staff posted a 4.37 ERA while striking out 96 and walking 50 in 162.2 innings of work this season.
